Week 2: Sharpening Search Skills

Now the second week is close to end.It is time to reflect on what I learned in this week.
My journey started with Noodletools.I got comprehensive lists of search sites which I never imagined I usually search with Google. Now I have several search sites for my specific search need.I  can save my time and choose appropriate content  easily with Noodle-tools.Now my list includes Google,Yahoo , Bing,You tube.Infomine, iseek education,Biography.com and many more.
I have already known about placing quotation marks and key wording for Google search. Now I know the way of refining search with +,-, tilde. I must thank our course instructor,Courtney, for posting- web searching tech tip-June 2009 on our course web site.
Instructional objectives are heart of teaching learning process.I learned new format of writing  instructional objectives using Audience,Behavior, Condition and Degree.I think this model is more precise as it specifies parameters of objectives. I read both versions of Bloom's taxonomy and noticed the changes.I realized the importance of developing higher level cognitive skills among learner. Our testing system(in Nepal) focuses lower level skills in examination so student just memorize . We need to re formulate for questions in exam.
I  took closer look at my class as I described my class for preparing project work.I wonder how to develop reading habits among my students.
I spent  most of days of this week with my parents in my village. I managed to keep in touch with the class on my cell phone in spite of connection failure, power cut and limitation of my device. One of our skills is adopting the resource we have. But it was great experience. I was reading friends message in the field while helping my parents My holiday is over.I don't know how to manage time for  next week.

  1. Dear Krishna,

Time flies! It's a second week of our course. Your blog is very interesting, using nice coulors and it's easy to read. Well, in the past I used only google to search what I needed, but since I've learned from this course I tried to use many search engines like www.ask.com, http://www.twurdy.com, and www.bing.com. I agree with you that each searching engine has its own advantages. Using the right searching engine can help us to save time. By the way, you are such a good son and your parents must be very happy.

    Best,

  3. Hello Krishna!

I hope you are doing fine after you have finished your short holiday and returned to work. I admire all the enthusiasm and patience you showed while trying to stay in touch with us in our Nicenet discussions although you faced with so many problems with the internet connection.
I agree with your statement that 'Instructional objectives are heart of teaching learning process' and I can say that I enriched my teaching experience after having read about the ABCD Model for Objectives and Bloom's Taxonomy for this week's assignments.
I also admit that it is a difficult task for a teacher to develop reading habits of his students if they haven't already brought them into your class. You have to provide a lot of motivating reading tasks in order to try 'to hook them up'.
Good luck with your work in the future!

    Best regards,
    Izela

    1. Dear Izela,
Thank you very much for sharing your ideas on my blog.I must appreciate your encouragement. We learn so much from each other.
I hope your are going through all readings for this week.I am back to work.It is a bit difficult for me to manage time because of heavy teaching load.
How can we build reading and speaking culture in our learners? I think we must discuss it in our group and take benefit from each others experiences.
      Best regards
      Krishna
